Oh.... I was SO THERE!!!

BRUINS WON THE STANLEY CUUUUUUUUUUP!!!!!!!!
AND I WATCHED!!!!!

I'll stop yelling, yeah, wow. Last night I got home wicked late from my job, had some issues with the IRS [what else is new] and panicked about not being able to get into a place to watch the Bruins game at 8pm. 7:30 came around and I could find no friends here at the internship to come see the game with me..... no one, blasphemy, right??
So I decided to trek it out there, alone, with the intent of making friends.......

Here are about 50 of my new friends:

We watched the game at.... some Irish Pub and Sports Grill near the Boston Garden

3rd Period, 49.4 seconds to go, Bruins are up 4-0, and there is beer splattered all over that screen.
[I got waters for the night..... yeah I was the idiot going up to the bar asking
"Excuse me, how much is a waterrrr???? FREE?!?!? One please :)"]

I've never heard so many chants in my life, here's a few:

"USA! USA! USA!!"
"TIMMY THOMAS! [clap, clap, clap, clap, clap] TIMMY THOMAS [etc]"
"*&%* VANCOUVER [clap, clap, clap, clap, clap]....."
"WE WANT THE CUP! WE WANT THE CUP!!!"
LET'S GO BRUINS! [clap, clap, clap, clap, clap] LET'S GO BRUINS! ...."
and many, many, many more - whatever we could think of - we chanted

Here's us really winning:

It was the funnest, most Bostonest, craziest, night of sports in my life [I was stuck in STL during the 2004 and 2007 seasons of the Red Sox, no parades for me....]

And my boy Tim Thomas got the MVP award - see:

After the game of a lifetime, me and my friends walked to the Boston Gardens

We saw fireworks:

And walked through a sea of people in their Bruins gear....

Here's me - being SOOOOO happy to be where I was :)

I just like this picture for some reason - plus look, you can see the Garden back there in the upper left!

I like #17 - his name looks just like my name - LUCIA = LUCIC - hellllo!!!!!

And here's some RIOT SHOTS!!!!

Those guys in black down below - yeah - COPS

Just think of bent metal, police in riot gear, people yelling, some fighting, the smells of..... everything, everybody high-fiving each other, strangers hugging, people chanting

If that sounds like heaven to you - you should have been watching the Bruins game in Boston last night :)
This guy did....

[gross alert]

My war wounds of the night: Almost lost a toenail [see above] and have a swollen hip which will hopefully turn into a gnarly bruise :P - I'm thinking that happened during the celebration in the pub, it got pretty rowdy

Lets end on that lovely note shall we?
Good night!

I Willed the Bruins to Win Last Night

Uh huh :)
I did this through the cunning use of my awesome Bostonness....

Observe my Monday night:

Now, to the untrained Boston eye, this might look like.... a regular night after work??

NO, WRONG, FALSE, NEIN!!!
This is me supporting my hockey team as they were about to fight the Canucks later that night.... I started early...

First, I got home and immediately put on my Bruins shirt

Then I walked to the Pru to get me some well deserved New England grub

Now when these two powers combine on a lazy Monday - the Bruins obviously WIN
They are now tied to WIN the coveted Stanley Cup
So, your welcome Boston, no worries, I'll be sure to pull the same routine Wednesday night
We're Gonnu Win This!

GO BRUINS!!!!!

Interning in my Favorite City

So guys, in March I applied for this stellar internship in Boston.
I was sooooo nervous I wouldn't get one so I applied for five :)
I got interviews and throughout them I knew there was one that was my most favorite.... which is cheeky of me, but oh well...

I GOT THAT ONE!!!

You are looking at the summer Intern for TMC Youth organization, specifically in the Mary Baker Eddy Library - I get to work on various types of research projects [what what?!? playtime :)], reading [SHA! I'm getting paid to read sometimes], and other curatorial projects that I'm pretty jazzed about :)
Here's me in my first real day of work outfit:

[not good quality, sorry!]

Just a little black v-neck action, grey pencil skirt, black tights with little dots, flats, and my new first day of work headband [it's neon pink and I like it!]

Mondays are short, Mondays are nice :) its been a great Monday!

In terms of living space, I couldn't ask for better roommates, in a better building, with a better view:

Softball field....

Museum of Fine Arts...

That pretty much covers ALL of my interests in one go - baseball and art :)
Plus Fenway is a couple blocks away, Au Bon Pains are all over, Dunkin Donuts pop up where ever I go, Cappy's II has good cheap pizza slices, Paradise Bakery is a short walk away [ohh, I need to restock my cookie...... stock?], I'm getting me some chowdah tonight!!!

......As you might have noticed, I'm quite food-centric, meaning my days revolve around what I'm eating next..... I literally go to sleep stoked that I get to wake up soon and eat breakie :) and a good healthy portion of Doug and I's skype convos are about the things we've eaten lately - he's been having a lot of Frenchy French bread and brie and grapes for his meals, that little!! He KNOWS thats my favorite thing to eat [thank God I got me some from ABP today for lunch!]

Before this gets incredibly too long [too late??] I'm gonnu go have some Boston fun :)

PS: How awesome was the Red Sox SPANKING the Blue Jays all weekend and the freakin' Yankees before that??? I think Boston likes me being here ;) I can feel it...

Doug is a Grad...

Doug Wallace
aka: future hubs, best friend, playpal, food buddy, fellow dog enthusiast, nice midwestern boyfriend, and Pro shrimp pasta with combination sauce and garlic bread maker
has officially graduated from college.

He is a man
He knows all there is to know
He can no longer fill in that box that says "full-time student"
He is a functioning and contributing member of society
He'll start to wear glasses, read books, and go "hmmmm" while in Starbucks on the weekdays
He'll have that "air" about him....
you know

He's just DONE!!

A little Lowrey House commemoration in the back there, nice

ps: these pictures were taken in a mad rush, 30 seconds before the guys left for the auditorium and I left for my plane to Boston
[I flew like they did in the 60's on Pan-Am flights - in *style* :)]

Sorry no robe photos - have to ask his parents for those

post post script: Due to crazy finals week, packing, and leaving for my internship in Boston, I've not been stellar about keeping up with the bloggin' - will promise to get better starting tonight!
