Na Na Na Na NaNa, You Say It's Your Birthday!

It's my Maid-of-Honor's B-day today!!!!!

Ain't she pretty? I'm well aware that I am going to be TOTALLY upstaged by all my beautiful bridesmaids and handsome bride's men - but I'm ok with that :)

Miss Annie is not only a stone cold fox - she's also been my roomie twice, in fact she was my FIRST ever roommate in the house [dorm] that I live in still [Howard Mouse Fo' Life!]
Annie is a dear, she's sweet, she's funny, she's so darn lovable and she's the best listener/advice giver ever - so clear-headed and mature - but also immature at the best times ;)

I'll never forget
~ her crazy wrestling fights with Brittany going on either in our room or loudly in the hallway - I always felt so helpless, watching her get dominated like that [I hear she's making a comeback these days :) we shall see during wedding times]
~ how she was always willing to watch a show with me instead of doing homework [our grades may or may not have suffered....]
~ how she dealt smashingly with me during my most emotional and dramatic outbursts during college
~ how she inspired me to actually get ready for school - rather than just roll out of bed - essentially Annie taught me how to be a girl - in the best sense
~ she's the Southern softy to my Northern hardness [must be the cold...]
and ~ she likes tea dates just as much as me [cause like Carolyn and I - she's a lady!]

[with our oh so beautiful RC at the time!]

Annie is one of those people I'm so grateful to have known and can't imagine college life
[and now life in general!] without her

It was a tough time thinking of who the heck would be my MOH [I can call it that right??] along with my sister Monica - the Matron of Honor [married!]
I love all my friends so much it felt weird picking "a favorite"- but I had to stop thinking of it like that - once I made a list of the qualities I wanted this girl to express
it became very clearly - Annie

Annie - I love you have a fabulous birthday and week
[I believe b-days should last a week, maybe even month - heck I call "November" my birthday]
I hope it goes something like this:

Love Always, Lucia :)

Homecoming!!!

This past weekend I opted to go to Homecoming sans Doug
I figured it was my last one ever to go to
I have ALL these pretty dresses in my closet just waiting to be worn ;)
and my supah-friend Tavia [howu howu!! inside joke] asked me to be her date
Dancing was crazy and fun - I'm awkward :) - and Tavia likes to be in the middle of all the action
Crazy girl!! It gets so hot in the epicenter of dances!
By the end of the night we christened each other with the names
"Co-Fiance" and "Co-Boyfriend"
since our respective dudes could not be there with us that night

Here's what they missed out on ---- allllll this :)
[boarder courtesy of the picture-taking team that night]

I went for the typical "Jesus in fine art" colors of purple and gold [shoes too!]
Tavia went for black and pink.... gothic Barbie colors?? Maybe?
whatever look she was going for - she rocked it and looked simply smashing
Her other date [playa, playa!] Jen made her hair look crazy gorgeous from the back as well
It's hard being surrounded by such beautiful, talented, cool, awesome ladies at Prin

Speaking of being surrounded by beautiful ladies.....

I'm in the back... cause I'm that awesome height thats too tall to be in the short row....
and yet too short to be seen from the back where the short people send you

Obviously it's a tough life I do lead ;P

Here's the rest of the pickies!!
[obligatory "funny" picture - where clearly Tavia and I panicked and gave peace signs???]

and
The theme of this picture is "undressing" because we're Principians and we like to be
[gasp!] SHOCKING

2011!!! Here's What You Missed

IT'S 2011! Well.... for a while now :)

We have had a pretty stellar year so far. I can't believe it's already March! Since we began this blog in the middle of February, here's what you may have missed about our lives.....

 * New Years with friends Carolyn and Brett *
* School began [Doug's almost done!] *
* Lucia gets asked to write for the Pilot [school's newspaper] she says yes *
* Doug tried out for Lazy Zipper [our school's improv group] and MADE IT! *
* Lucia's crazy class this quarter - 300 level Art History class *
* Doug's crazy class - 300 level History class [copy cat ;)] *
* Lucia lets a chipmunk into Wanamaker Hall.... seriously *
* Then suggests we bring the poor thing some chips - because it only makes sense that a chipmunk's diet would consist of.... chips.... *
* Doug upset when the Bears got knocked out of the running for Superbowl *
* Lucia watches the Superbowl anyways, while Doug works at Yankee Candle Co. *
* WEST PRESENTS: Doug stars in the skits:
(1) "Afternoon Delight" from Anchorman w/ friends
(2) Made this video w/ friends
[ps: allow yourself to laugh - this is not serious in any way [minus the seriously good camera angles and shots!] these four are the quote "funny guys" at our school - they often make us crack up :).... plus how could anyone take this video seriously???]

(3) Stand up routine - so darn funny!
(4) "Jar of Hearts" w/ friends
(5) "Hallelujah" w/ friend
(6) Lazy Zipper with the boys from Lowrey
YAA!! He was in six skits.... crazy boy *
* Lucia attended, laughed, cried [thanks a lot Blake], and cheered at West Presents *
* Valentine's Day Date - Saw max, ate Cheesecake factory, and almost saw a movie until we remembered there were no good movies playing *
* Valentine's Day - Doug got coupons for free hugs and a "I love you as much as...." List [ex: i love you as much as Boston, kayaking, the ocean, etc.]
Lucia got v-day m&m's wrapped in homemade notebook paper
covered in marker and a Poem [ex: "Who else on earth would I want to split my cakesters with?
What other chick would want to watch star wars from the first to the sixth?"] *
* Doug's mum informs us that we will be seeing the LORD OF THE RINGS symphony!!! *
* Lucia writes a groundbreaking article about POT *
* Lazy Zipper Show a Big Success! Doug was extremely funny - best part:
Christian: "movie theme, Inception!"
Doug: "BWAAAAGHWAAAAGH!!!!" *
* Graham Thatcher had a gallery show his beautiful photographs of our dancers from Dance Prod in Alton, I went, it was legit *
* Lucia finally uses her J.Crew gift card - now has a cute orange skirt *
* Doug starts work on his capstone - all about religious violence - what can I say, he likes to party....*
* Lucia writes a not-so-groundbreaking article about the men's houses [dormitories] on campus *
*WE START A BLOG!!!*

There you guys have it - our 2011 before creating this blog :)

Dance PrOOOOD

Doug and I got fa-REE comp tickets to see our college's dance production last night. To say the least it was TIIIIIIIGHT!!!!

My fave: "El Tango de Roxanne" from Moulin Rouge [they actually did it! brrr, I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it] choreographed by Catherine Speer and Ali Vice - now two of the coolest chicks in my eyes. There was tangoing, pushing, shoving, CHAIRS, and corsets, nuff said. Oh yeah - they titled it Salvation, brrrrrr! :)

Doug's fave: "The stompy stomp one"- but *actually* called.... Passion choreographed by Godfred Fianu [SO crazy talented!] with help from Stella Dike

Our Fave: "The cowboy one" called L'idolo Di Oro choreographed by Piper Hillman - contrary to the title it is NOT Italian, just "a commentary on the final stand-off scene in Sergio Leone's [italian] The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". VERY splendiferous [actual word, look it up and/or win at scrabble with it], VERY b.a. [i've decided this will be a "PG" blog], and VERY cool that the music was actually created by a student here at Prin, Erik Seigling! I know him!

Best friend/Howard neighbor/future bridesmaid/fellow spring breaker!/unfortunate Packers fan ;) Carolyn Thorsen was in FOUR dances! - beast

Also Doug and moi laughed really hard pretty much the whole way through - not in a disrespectful, make fun of everything way, but a jokey-jokesters we're having such a fun time at this fun thing right now don't laugh, oh no we're laughing! way...

Oodles of fun :) if only we had 14 bucks to go do it again!
