Last intake of food - never - dorito's and ice-cream at 2 in the morning gave me a bit of a stomach ache :(
How's my body - back feels totally broken
Freak out - when the file was so large [45 pages total including images and bibliography] that the email could not handle loading it and took like 3 minutes...... thats FOREVER to a sleep deprived student at 6 in the morning
So my plan is to update the blog every two hours so that I hold myself
accountable for what I've done

when I had to look up the meaning of "TTC" that I had seen in someone's comment to something or other - my thinking being that I was just simply not catching up with all these "crazy kids" and their "crazy lingo"...... only to find out:
TTC stands for "Trying to Conceive"....
so I'm not an old fart AND I'm not trying to get pregnant - YAY!!!
feeling much better :)
:( until I realize sadly that I'm posting at midnight when I should be desperately trying to finish my capstone so I can actually have a weekend - going back to work on it riiiiight NOW!

This is what I had for dinner Wednesday night:
Wasn't feelin' the pizza that night so I opted for a to go container of.....
Gherkins????
then popped in to the C-Store and picked up two cheesesticks.....
these two foods look gross together AND taste gross together. Needless to say I got through about 5 gherkins and one cheesestick before I realized how sick it was
and that this was not a real meal....
I can't wait to buy my own food and never have this kind of thing as a meal option ever again!
ahhh, and now I'm writing a post about how distracted I've let myself get tonight - whatever my priorities are - I have no idea of their existence.....
I may be close with the whole tree houses thing though
This last weekend, my 20th Century Architecture class took a weekend field trip to Chicago. We all woke up at 4:45 in the morning [unless you're me...] and drove in two vans to the city of beautiful architecture.
My van family was ze best, and my breakfast of champions from McDee's really fueled me for what was to be a very fun field trip.
Here's evidence of our elation in the city - we were like curious children all weekend :)
First thing we did was take a tour to check out the Rookery Building which was unbelievable - everything, from the gilded walls, skylight, marble, ironwork, mosaic floors, and Frank Lloyd Wright lights, was stunning, especially in those moments when the sun would come out from behind the clouds and light up the place like a box of gold and jewels.
It was very fun, and the topper was that we ate in the Potbelly's in the building - how lucky was that!?
Next, we got personal and went to Oak Park to see Franky boy's Home and Studio
Even though it was rainy and getting quite cold - our entire group was stoked to be there. Plus our amazing tour guide from the Rookery met us here to give us yet another tour! He was so lovely, like a old-time movie star, Charlton Heston type - with the greenest eyes any of us had ever seen. He liked our group and we loved him!
We also got some free time to wander the streets of Oak Park to look at other Frank homes and those that tried to emulate him or put buildings near him that were "worthy". There were loads to look at. It was like a small New England town in the midwest - everything had such character.
We were also able to check out the Unity Temple, take some silly pictures....

Then I ate ate Pad Thai at Penny's Noodle Shop [though I was incredibly distracted by the Giordano's sitting across the street].... Someday!!!
Followed by some dreamsicle fudge from next door. MmmMmm good times :)
We then checked into our Hostel in Greek Town Chicago
Here was home for two nights...
and since this post is LOADS longer than I had anticipated, I'm gonnu slap a Part I onto that title up there and make you come back later to see that rest. Here's a teaser: IIT campus, Robie House, Art Institute - you WANT to come back for that :)
Dinner with Susan Vreeland and the talk that followed were two of the funnest things I did last week. This woman knows her stuff, and life as an author seems to come easily and naturally for her. She's easily able to make connections with the right people everywhere she goes. Her stories from Paris are just the best!
Our dinner at Mississippi Half Step in Grafton was amazing - I ordered scallops in a red wine reduction sauce, oooo it was good :). Our group talked like we were all equals, and friends. We had some great laughs and it was wicked fun. I learned a lot from Mrs. Vreeland.
What I honestly can't wait for is to have the time in the summer to read her newest book, Clara and Mr. Tiffany. From what I learned in the talk, it was not just Louis Comfort Tiffany who made all the beautiful lamp shades and stained glass we see now.
Clara Driscoll and her team of women contributed heavily to the beautiful creations that went out with Tiffany's name on them. I'm excited to read what life was like in New York at this time of great change - Electricity, the "first" skyscraper [though I think Chicago would disagree], and the growing independence of women. I'm also glad I can have a true connection to Tiffany glass. Before, I'd see a lamp and think "eh, its not that cool, or pretty", but Susan opened my eyes to the intense beauty and detail that goes into these lamps
It's as dynamic as a painting, if not more so! I'm very happy to be taught to love and appreciate something that I may not understand in the beginning because I'd rather love anything than wrongly think I hate it.
Dear Summer,
Please come so I can go to Boston, start my internship, read books, wear my "grown-up clothes", eat good food, and see Red Sox games.
Tonight I'm going to a supper and talk by the Author, Susan Vreeland. Ahead of time I was given two of her books [fo' free!] - Luncheon of the Boating Party and Clara and Mr. Tiffany
Due to my work load that entails only reading lots and writing lots more - I was only able to read the first one :) but it was good - oh boy was it good! Obviously right up my ally. I just cannot wait to dive into the next this summer. That's one reading book I won't have to buy, yipee!
I cannot wait to meet Susan Vreeland tonight and ask her all the questions that popped into my head whilst reading this. I'm so grateful to have that chance!

Doug and I got fa-REE comp tickets to see our college's dance production last night. To say the least it was TIIIIIIIGHT!!!!
My fave: "El Tango de Roxanne" from Moulin Rouge [they actually did it! brrr, I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it] choreographed by Catherine Speer and Ali Vice - now two of the coolest chicks in my eyes. There was tangoing, pushing, shoving, CHAIRS, and corsets, nuff said. Oh yeah - they titled it Salvation, brrrrrr! :)
Doug's fave: "The stompy stomp one"- but *actually* called.... Passion choreographed by Godfred Fianu [SO crazy talented!] with help from Stella Dike
Our Fave: "The cowboy one" called L'idolo Di Oro choreographed by Piper Hillman - contrary to the title it is NOT Italian, just "a commentary on the final stand-off scene in Sergio Leone's [italian] The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". VERY splendiferous [actual word, look it up and/or win at scrabble with it], VERY b.a. [i've decided this will be a "PG" blog], and VERY cool that the music was actually created by a student here at Prin, Erik Seigling! I know him!
Best friend/Howard neighbor/future bridesmaid/fellow spring breaker!/unfortunate Packers fan ;) Carolyn Thorsen was in FOUR dances! - beast
Also Doug and moi laughed really hard pretty much the whole way through - not in a disrespectful, make fun of everything way, but a jokey-jokesters we're having such a fun time at this fun thing right now don't laugh, oh no we're laughing! way...
Oodles of fun :) if only we had 14 bucks to go do it again!
