The Oscahs!

Like my sister Natalie - I nerded out BIG TIME last night:
I pinned my hair to one side [took like 20 seconds]
Wore gold - the lucky Oscar winning color
And purple - MY favorite color
And a skirt to be fancy :)

When Doug cae home from work I had quite a spread for us

Pasta with combination sauce - garlic bread made with sourdough bread [once again, out of this world] - sparkling white grape juice - candlelight - champagne flutes with "W" engraved on them [thank you Men's Warehouse!]

And for dessert:
I bought only "fancy treats"
~ Cookies and Cream Drops
~ Andes Mints
Puppy hung out with us too :)

Wonderful Night at the Oscahs!!!

Saturday Night - aka: Halloween Time begins

.... ok to be honest halloween time started about the same time I drove myself all the way to Target last weekend just to get a bag of candy corn..... for myself..... and nothing else
it also kinda started when Doug and I watched "28 Days Later..." [zombie movie - brilliant zombie movie] earlier this week

but it FOR REAL started this weekend because Doug and I carved pumpkins :)

Not to toot my own horn... but I take pumpkin carving pretty seriously, Exhibit A:
which led to...
Yes I absolutely made my pumpkin look like Darth Vader!!
thats what weirdo nerds do...
This was 2008, the last time I got to carve a pumpkin, and with my baby sister Caitlin! [HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY BUBBY GIRL!!!! I love you so darn much!]

To my shock, disbelief, stupefaction and great surprise - Doug had NEVER carved pumpkins before..... the lunacy!!
We remedied that this Saturday - while we watched "Shaun of the Dead" :)

Here's our handiwork:
[someone's got Xmas on the brain....]
I think he had fun :)
This was quite a night of grilling, mild thievery [the pumpkin patch wasn't necessarily open when we got there, but we left a note with the total in cash for the pumpkins we took.... we hope they find it under that pumpkin....], pumpkin smell all throughout the house, joking, candy corn and cupcakes!

It was a great night, followed by a great Sunday of apple picking! [pickies to follow]

I LOVE AUTUMN TIME!!!

I Had a Break, So We Had a Date!

I had a much needed Fall Break last weekend so Doug and I celebrated by going on a "City Date"

a City Date is something I get really excited about
because it means it's a date we get to dress nice for - eat at a restaurant we've never been to
[those crazy city folks are always running out of business and starting up new ones!]
and walk around an area that is NOT the suburbs, Target, Schnucks
[stl grocer], or the path from Doug's living room to his kitchen
[I force us to take that walk a LOT]

Doug looked great, I looked colorful [purple, orange, gold and
THESE heels]

but OF COURSE we never got around to taking pictures - cause we suck like that :P

It's ok though - I'll still brag about where we went and steal photos from Google...

We ate at:

It was so cute! Very 50's, I Love Lucy playing on the tv's, and on a corner! Perfect for diner :)

Doug had a delicious burger and I had an enormous chili cheese dog... also I don't believe in eating at diners without ordering a chocolate milkshake - not my best idea seeing as how we planned on getting gelato after - but we did do that annoying thing where you drink from the same shake with two straws - after which I asked him if he would've given me his pin if we were dating in the 50's
Once I explained to him what the heck that meant: He said yes :)

Then we went:

And since we were stuffed to the point of near-death we shared a small lime gelato
It was such a beautiful night we were able to sit outside!
Once the smell from the Hooka bar across the street wafted over - we decided it was time to go

'Twas a wicked fun night - I like dating Doug :)

Look What I Found!

OLD-ish PICTURES! YAY!!!

These are from Doug and I's two year this year - or at least the celebration of it
[cause as some of you know I was in Boston on that particular day
so I took myself out to the North End for some smashing Italian food -
three courses.... I had a Groupon :P]

When I came back to Stl we set aside a night to celebrate US :)
So we got snazzy, Cheesecake Factoried it up and Doug got me this present
He gave it to me under the strict stipulation that I pick any cupcake I wanted
and we'd go out, get the ingredients and bake them that night!
Husband-In-Training did GOOD - I love him :)
Also how good did we do?!?!

Compare:
Aaaaand:
[apparently this picture wanted to be in High-Def]

It was a wicked fun night - playing music - baking with my betrothed ;P ha

At the end we were left with a pound of oreo crumbs that we did NOT
know what to do with - so GeniusDoug made shakes

Yum...

Yum....

YUMMM!!!!
We ended the night watching Sophia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette"
for wedding research - he's gottu know the feel I'm going for - you know?
If you couldn't tell ---> this was one of the funnest nights of my summer........
That is sooo like Doug - being all awesome and thoughtful, sheesh

I love finding old images!

[sorry for the quality of the photos - the camera's from Australia.... 'nuff said ;)]
[oooo i'm so getting beat up for that!]
